Dean Colbray named Frontier Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week


WHITEFISH, MT – Dean Colbray of Montana Tech was named the Frontier Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Colbray is a 6’0” senior guard from Pasco, Wash. Montana Tech beat the University of Great Falls 84-68 and No. 22 Montana State-Northern 80-69. Colbray averaged 22 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and three steals per game. He hit 50 percent of his three-point field goals and 70 percent of his free throws.

Hasquet named Frontier Men's Basketball Player of the Week


WHITEFISH, Mont., Feb. 8, 2010 – Kellen Hasquet of Montana Tech was named the Frontier Conference’s Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Hasquet is a 6’7” junior forward from Missoula, Mont. Montana Tech went 2-0 for the weekend as they beat Rocky Mountain 72-62 on Friday and Carroll College 74-67 on Saturday.

Their win over Carroll was Tech’s first win over the Saints in over 10 years and in 20+ games. It was also the first time since the Frontier expanded to eight teams that Tech had swept Carroll and Rocky on the same weekend.

Hasquet averaged 20.5 point and five rebounds per game. He hit 44 percent of his field goals , 48 percent of his three-point field goals and 79 percent of his free throws.

'Diggers battle the Lights the entire game but lose in last minute

HAVRE — Shooting woes and bad breaks down the stretch doomed the Orediggers.

Eric Tisby and Brian Santiago each scored 16 points to lead the Lights, who scored 17 of their 30 second-half points from the free throw line.

Westminster seems to have gotten used to winning. The Griffins won their 10th straight men's basketball game Friday with a 61-52 nod over the homestanding Orediggers at the Great Western HPER Complex.

The win lifted Westminster to 3-0 in Frontier Conference play, while the cold-shooting Orediggers fell to 0-3 in conference play with their fourth loss in a row. Tech shot 24 percent in the first half as the Griffins ground out a 22-17 lead at intermission.

"We could very easily have been up at half if we hit some of our open shots," said Montana Tech head coach Nate Larson. "And their second-chance shots off the offensive boards in the second half killed us." ...more
