The Montana Tech women’s basketball program is recruiting student-athletes to help us become one of the top programs in the country.
Montana Tech is located in Butte, Montana, also known as the “Richest Hill on Earth”, a name earned through its illustrious copper mining history. We are located just 15 minutes from Fairmont Hot Springs, and only 2 hours from Yellowstone National Park! Butte is known for its historic landmarks and proximity to beautiful outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, hiking, river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, mountain biking, snow skiing and snowboarding. Local festivals and events such as the Saturday morning Farmers’ Market help give our town its family atmosphere. Academically Montana Tech has earned the reputation for being one of the finest colleges in the world. With more than 40 academic programs to choose from, a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio, and our 97% job placement rate after graduation, Montana Tech offers a high-quality education in a personalized learning environment.
The women’s basketball program here is on the rise! Our team competes at the NAIA Division 1 level, in the Frontier Athletic Conference. This is my first year here at Tech, the head coach, Kerie DePell, is in her third year after being the assistant her first two years. We are excited to be building a successful program to compliment the other outstanding aspects of Montana Tech! Coach DePell comes from an extremely successful and winning tradition. I also come from a nationally prominent college program as a player, and then played professionally overseas in Australia.
Being a part of the Montana Tech basketball family is a special opportunity! We are committed to building a unique environment that is positive, encouraging, and life changing. We are returning 10 players from last season, with only two in their senior season. This core group is going to transform this program into a Frontier Conference Championship contender immediately.
